Prelude No. 24 is in D minor. Section A, composed of two phrases, is followed by section B that develops the thematic material presented in section A. The Prelude ends with a coda:

	Measures 1 to 2.	Introduction.
	Measures 3 to 20.	D minor, F major and A minor keys.
	Measures 21 to 38.	The previous phrase is repeated transposed a descending fourth. A minor, C major and E minor keys.
	Measures 39 to 65.	Development of section A thematic material. C minor, Db major and D minor keys.
	Measures 66 to 77.	D minor key.
