We use the same letter used to name the musical notes as chord symbols:

Major Triads

A letter by itself means a major chord:


Minor Triads

For minor chords we add m (lower case), min or the symbol -:


Diminished Triads

Add dim or the symbol o :


Augmented Triads

Add aug or #5 or +



Use a slash followed by the bass note to be used to indicate an inversion:
