A Baroque Suite is a collection of baroque dances often preceded by a prelude. They same key is used on all pieces but they are organized with contrasting tempo and time signatures. Other names for the suite are partita and sonata.

We will analyze the French Suite number 2 by J. S. Bach (BWV 813). Bach wrote 6 French Suites between 1722 and 1725.

This suite has the following dances:

1. Allemande 2. Courante 3. Sarabande 4. Air 5. Menuet 6. Gigue

All dances are in binary form.
