Tempo Markings
The vihuelistas used to indicate tempo marking in their music. Some composers, like Milán, used words and phrases other used symbols:
Luys Milán:
- Compás apressurado o batido (fast)
- Compás algo apressurado (not very fast)
- Algún tanto apriessa o algo apriessa (a little fast)
- Ni muy a espacio ni muy apriessa (neither slow nor fast)
- Compás a espacio (slow)
Luys de Narváez:
